Sekonic L-256D battery compartment PhotoShop Guru posted a photo:

I got a real deal on this on e-bay a few years ago, not realizing it's 5.6V164DX Mercury battery was banned. I was looking for a backup or possible replacement to my out-of-production Sekonic L-458.
I had some 1.4V Zinc-Air hearing aid batteries for other projects, so I put a stack of 4 inside a section of vinyl hose, held in place with a spring and plastic tube. It worked. I didn't use it much, so the batteries died.
Other battery substitution solutions are currently available, I recently discovered. One device that functions the same as my tube/spring setup (made from parts found around the house) costs 3–4 times what I paid for the meter.

General Electric meters DW-48, DW-58, DW-68
The DW-48 was found with case, box & papers (dates 2-45). The DW-58 (with case ) and DW-68 work, the DW-48 does not.
I didn't plan to collect these, they just showed up over time with other purchases.

Minolta 9 degree spot meter.
Great ergonomic feel. This was my favorite meter in the1970s, until I dropped it. An internal plastic post supporting the mechanism broke and it never worked again. I purchased this at B. Altman's on Wabash in Chicago, 1969 or 1970, I think. Dropped in 1976–1978?

Dome diffuser for3D objects/portraits, Flat diffuser (lumidisk) for copy work, reflected light filter disk. I lost the flash difuser after parts were no longer available, replaced is with a white bottle cap (yes,it works). Later, I lost the reflective light filter, and made this one from a broken dome.

It never occurred to me to photograph my meter until someone requested it. I hadn't realized how much dust is on it.

Well padded, even more ginormous than the meter. Has a carry strap so you could almost wear it like a purse. (You could, I don't use a purse :-P)
